Presentation Event for the Scientific Monograph The Age of Social Media

On 15 September at 4:00 PM, the Valmiera Integrated Library will host the launch event for The Age of Social Media, a scientific monograph by Jānis Buholcs, Professor at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (ViA).

The event will feature a conversation with the author about the role of social media in contemporary society and what social media reveal about social processes and human behaviour.

The book explores a wide range of issues related to social media, including the principles underlying social media platforms and the formation of sociality within them, the theoretical foundations of networks, the societal impact of technology, users’ self-presentation and the dissemination of beauty standards, the relationship between social media and journalism, as well as platform governance in the context of freedom of expression and the political climate.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the launch event. After the event, the book will also be available to all interested readers at the Valmiera Integrated Library.
