This Friday, 26 September, one of the most anticipated science events of the year will take place across the country – European Researchers’ Night 2025. This year, more than 30 venues throughout Latvia will host hundreds of exciting free activities for the whole family.

Science begins with a simple question – why?

The best way to discover science and research is from an early age, when it becomes a natural way of thinking and exploring the world. That is why future researchers are especially invited to join Researchers’ Night – including school classes and children’s groups – who will have the chance to go on educational tours of scientific institutes, meet researchers, and see how discoveries are made.

This year’s motto, “Discover the Researcher Gene Within You!”, invites everyone to recognise the role of science in daily life and embrace the curiosity that lives in each of us. The event’s symbol, the DNA spiral, reminds us that science unites natural sciences, as well as the humanities and social sciences.

A wide variety of activities will take place not only in Riga but also in Valmiera, Liepāja, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Ventspils, Jūrmala, and other locations across Latvia. Events will start in the late afternoon and continue into the evening, featuring:

  • engaging and creative workshops for children, young people, and adults,
  • experiments and demonstrations,
  • hands-on activities,
  • tours of laboratories and institutes,
  • research walks, escape rooms, and more.

Information about venues and programmes is available on Latvia’s science portal researchLatvia

As each venue will offer different activities and start times, visitors are encouraged to follow the information provided by individual institutions and select the events that best suit them.
