May Researcher Spotlight: Rūta Ozola - Davidāne

Ph. D. Rūta Ozola-Davidāne is an Associate Tenure Professor at the Institute of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences, at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.

The scientist has always been interested in water research and wastewater treatment, which she has explored in depth in her studies. At the university, together with her colleagues, researcher works on issues related to water protection, wastewater treatment, and soil remediation using nature-based solutions — such as phytoremediation and constructed wetlands.

Dr. biol. Artūrs Škute is a Professor at Daugavpils University, Institute of Life Sciences and Technology. His research primarily focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of aquatic biological resources.

As a professor, he delivers lectures on ecology, hydrobiology, and aquaculture across doctoral, master's, and bachelor's study programs.

March Researcher Spotlight: Renāte Ranka

Dr. biol. Renāte Ranka  Rīga Stradiņš University, Tenured Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy Renate Ranka's main line of research is pharmacogenetics. The tenur professor and her team are actively conducting important research to find out how variations in the human genome affect the response to drugs and the effectiveness of therapy. The main purpose of the studies is to identify a genetic model that could predict the response of a particular drug in a certain group of patients, so that the most appropriate drug for each patient can be applied.
